Bat and Bar Mitzvahs at Exchange Hall
Bat and Bar Mitzvahs are a tradition in the Jewish faith celebrating boys and girl entering adulthood. Boys who are 13 celebrate the Bar Mitzvahs and girls celebrate their Bat Mitzvahs when they are 12. Traditionally, children begin preparing for their Bat or Bar Mitzvahs a year prior to the date by regularly attending Temple. The day of the Bat or Bar Mitzvah, the person celebrating will read aloud a prophetic reading in addition to a continued reading from the Torah. This Jewish right of passage is followed by close family and friends celebrating with music, dance, and food.
